Aurora Borealis

We wanted to achieve a more ethereal environment for this duet, with the recurring metric modulations, ongoing key changes, and dense rudimental skillsets in both the marimba and the snare drum parts. ‘Aurora Borealis’ (Latin) translates in English to “northern lights.” Which is a natural light display visible in the night time sky in normally arctic regions; the same phenomena in the south is known as the ‘aurora australis’. This duet stands more on the advanced side, but if you and a friend are up for the challenge, this would be the perfect piece for you!
