This world class production for indoor percussion ensemble offers a sort of omniscient, cynical view on human action and capability. Centered around the brain and its motivations, "Gateway of the Mind" explores the organ and its functions as well as the untapped potential it harnesses. Often glitchy and sporadic, the narration was meant to be indirect and unfulfilling so that the audience can fill in the rest for themselves.
This show presents a wonderful dichotomy of future and past, digital and organic, restraint and freedom...it is purposefully patient, except for when it’s not. Ultimately, "Gateway of the Mind" is a unique and refreshingly dry take on the human condition, gritty and unrelenting in its intention. Come take a look.
